Art 1
The forbidden tree
This is my final project for art 1, this year has taught me a lot so I wanted to challenge my new skills. I had drawn this tree for my second weekly drawing of the year and I spent 3 hours drawing it and wanted to see if I could paint it. I have also always wanted to do a painting that spread over 4 canvases, along with the paintings with the cool texture feeling to it so I thought why not do all three in one. I think I did really well on this considering I've never done something this big, there are a few things I would do different but I'm happy with the final project. I did change a few things on the tree to make it even more original then my drawing, I also added some different colors in the background to give it movement as if there is a breeze and it also plays into the texture of the leaves.
Think outside the box
So my magazine clip is from a picture of a snow cave and I turned it into a wave. I was going to do a cloud but it wasn't going as planned so I decided to change it and I'm very happy on how this turned out. It went from a snow cave to a beach in summer. I used gradation to do my sunset to try and make it look more realistic. I did struggle to bring out the texture in the water to match the clip but I think it still looks good.
My Dream House
This is my dream house, with 6 bedrooms, 4 1/2 bathroom, on the country side of Tennessee. There's a sunroom downstairs along with a big kitchen, dining room, and living room. I chose this because I want to be a foster mom so I need lots of room in my house.
Bob
This is my Alebrije, he is part squide, part unicorn, part whale, and part bear. I decided to do these different parts because when I was younger I had imagined being all of these at one point. I think they came together well and I liked the colors i used and I would see this being an actual alebrije.
My abstract piece
I struggled with this because I like to be organized and I didn't like how the oil pastel was working so halfway through I switched to chalk. I think I learned that abstract is harder than it looks.
A Memory
I decide for my last project this semester I would paint a Memory. We had the option to do anything so I thought this was a perfect time to do a painting that was based off a emotion or feeling, and I'm best at painting so this is what I chose. This memory is from my dads house this past summer. Years ago my whole family lived there but now its just dad. When I'm there I felt so relaxed and its so peaceful there so why not try and capture that into a painting. So the view in this painting would be as if in the yard looking across the road to one of the field that surrounds the property. Where I lived they did soybeans and corn, so I'm sure you can guess this is a bean field. I hope you find this painting as relaxing and happy as I do. I also plan to give this to the farm who owns this field after we have the art show.
